I can tell you that even when free trade and pking came back, I still found the game has lost its entertainment.
I just recently began reading the forums and logged into the game once and the in game setup is a horrible overkill on normal setup and overly complected.
Even on Legacy it's way too many unneeded windows and ironically, pming on the friends list is a huge joke, why the heck is there no friend list tab on the actual chat window?
Why the heck cant we hover over a player to see who it is and have to right click them?
Stupid.
Setting to oldschool mode is even more ridiculous as the game window shrinks nearly 3/4 down.
The game used to be simple and easy to play, and its obvious why new players don't join and play.
Me being an old school player, it took me over 2 hrs in game to even figure out what I should have already known, so I assume it would take someone new over a week or more just to figure everything out.
I know it wont matter to what I am saying, but never the less, people like games that are easy figure out, and currently there is way too much to learn for the average gamer to even wish to take the time to learn it all.
Games are supposed to be fun, and not work.
Plus, one of my favorite things to do besides pking was to mine runite in the wildy.
The super small log out button and the inability to switch accounts to my main to check worlds and then hurry in log in with my miner, completely ruins that part of the game and gives 100% advantage to clans who seek out runite miners.
It used to be fun to have my main, my pure, a few scouts, and my miner up at the rocks and try to battle other miners as well as clans, but now I can see how stupid it would be, "log in, attacked and killed with no hope to even escape"
That and giving priority to players over NPC's makes it impossible to have any chance at all.
If a clan attacked me, I used to run to the dwarfs to get the clan off me and then when the time was right, run.
No fun at all now.
