Okay, I don't know this Mercy character, but s/he has made some several useful point of views. As stated, if there was a toggle then it wouldn't affect those who want, or don't care about the experience. If you don't understand that, or can't grasp it then you are extremely biased and only think of yourselves.
JaGex created this game without expectations of accounts who will limit themselves, yes. They do not condone to the upbringing in such accounts, but they have never actually done anything to spite against them, and actually, if you guys didn't know, love that accounts do this for an extra challenge. I've received e-mails from hem stating so.
Now, when I try to turn my accept-aid off and try my best to avoid getting this experience at all costs, it's bogus that I can still attain it against my will.
Now, why would someone want to challenge themselves like this? JaGex has mad this game more and more easy over the years and a nice challenge never hurt anyone. For example, there is a television show called "***** and Afraid" in that show there is no money reward, but you get stuck in some random island, woods, or anywhere with no food, clothing, or anything. Why do people do this? Some people enjoy challenges with the only reward of simple self-satisfaction.
I understand pure, and/or skillers have tried to plead their case multiple upon multiple times, and there are still so many people out there against them. Pures are practically gone with the development of rs3. So, you won't get overpowered by anyone your same combat level in the wilderness or anything. However, I can't understand why you would spread hate upon skillers? They honestly don't effect you, and if you don't like them you are close-minded, and just don't see that some people choose not to experience everything in the game.
Lastly, what if I say I was a pacifist? Pacifists are totally against violence, and would make their account so they could experience all the great traits of the game without
