I disagree with most of the BETA's objectives. Although games must move foreward and evolve, this is the wrong way. The addition of abilities is what i disagree with most. I enjoy the action bar and its simplicity, but keep special attacks and remove abilities. Also, don't nerf overloads/extremes, don't add so many defence requirements. Pures have been longstanding pieces of the Runescape equation, and deserve to stay that way.

So, the one big thing that I don't like about the beta is the format of the ability book, or at least the magic portion. It takes too long to go through your ability book to find a spell. I know that we have the action bar, but when there is a spell that you don't use often enough to put on the action bar you have to go dig through the ability book. I think a good solution to this would be to format the spells, at least, like they were in the original spell book. Most seasoned players know what the icons for the spells mean, so they don't need the name out beside it. Or you could add an option in the settings tab or the ability book tab to have the ability set up like it is in the beta now or like it was in the original spell book.
This is just a thought. The new combat level system, armors, and abilities will make the game more like other mainstream games. However, I play Runescape because it isn't like the other mainstream games. I think that if you do implement the changes that you should make a separate server for the Evolution of Combat and the current Runescape. I know a lot of players that are just going to leave Runescape if these changes are implemented.
Keep the new dual-wielding, new combat level calculator, new action bar, and the health bonus for armor (though make the health bonus so that if you have full health when you put on the armor, then your health stays full instead of having to waste money on food to get your health back to the max), but get rid of everything else. I don't necessarily like food healing being relative to combat level. You, Jagex, are making the game into what the other mainstream games, like World of Warcraft, are. We, as members of Runescape, play your game, not because of great graphics (though they have gotten a lot better since 2003-2004 when I started playing) but because there is so much more to do: skilling, combat, pking, etc. This is the game we love, not the beta.

Just wanted to go on record as saying i dislike this update. i like the addition of dual wield but disapprove of the need for left-handed weapons, i like the way weapons and shields are stowed away outside of combat and the new combat animation, other than that i'm not impressed,

I just want to say that about the Beta update. I am not a fan..free armor an what not.. Eh its takes away what I believe to be the true concept of Runescape, skilling an what not. I love Runescape for its simplicity, and I feel that beta is taking that aspect away, and I will be very heartbroken if I am FORCED into it, wether it be now or in a couple months. I want nothing to do with Beta, I have alot of friends that agree, it should remain optional for those the younger folk that do enjoy it. Thanks. @zorasoul
