My fellow players:
I have been a player since late 2006. I consider myself a veteran, though others might disagree. I would like you all to consider for a moment what your fellow players have meant to you over the years. For years I had nearly nothing to do with anyone but a nice person who helped me out with shield of arrav. I knew a handful of people in real life who played, but other than that I didn't do much with any of the community. I used the NPC shops or crafted my own gear. I never bought food. Then I started involving myself in the occasional conversation. I was even given a pickaxe when I stumbled on a meteorite. Nice people helped me out and gave advise. Certainly I had my share of people who ridiculed, trolled, harassed, and begged from me, but the good has, for me, made up for it. Which is going to influence your day more, the guy who calls you a **** noob, or the guy who lends you a dragon hatchet for the entirety of a bonus xp weekend?
This is a celebration of a milestone in RS history. Ought it to be one which the beneficial members of our microcosm are lifted up? If so, how would it best be done? Surely not by way of a parasitic update that leeches our community, that which I think ought to be honored. Jagex is not celebrating this, so I move that we do so.
Gentlemen, Ladies, I suggest that we hold our own celebration! We don't need Jagex's help to do so! I will not likely be able to attend, but I've missed parties before.
Send a message to Jagex by holding a party or event. Go to a minigame in a generally abandoned world. Go into the wilderness and celebrate. Use that party room that no one has used since I know not when. Have a massive house party to rival that of the falador massacre! Show Jagex what a community can do to celebrate itself!
My proposition is longwinded, therefore I will make a summary:
Jagex is not worthy of creating a celebration for us. Let's do it ourselves!
