Upon seeing this news I am just severely saddened. As a 9hper from classic, it's just sad to see how much bots account for this game... 200m players? That isn't special if 175m of them are bots.
This is just so terrible...
And actually, I averaged at least 75k of players to be real people and not bots. This was back near the first bot nuke and many updates before that. There'd commonly be 200k people on but after any update and the nuke only 75kish would be back online immediately. This is because the 125k botters had to wait for their bot programs to update.
So considering 200m players... 199925000 bots or lost accounts. Of course you know it's probably mostly bots.

As most people are saying here, most of them are throw-aways or bots. So it's not to great of an achievement as you guys don't have more than around 200k players on at once... Most of which are bots so.... Take away about 50k for bots and 25k for throw aways and you're left with 125k on at most. And then take away 50% as much of them are just standing there at G.e doing nothing or gloating or gambling..
To fix the h/c just make it so you choose the colour of the flower, that way what's the point of attempting?

I have to agree with Saauron. How many of those players are actually players?
It's sad to see the bots in the top 100s of high scores (Hunter as an example).
Sorceresses Garden, any world, 50+ bots running at a time.
Rogues Den, there are bots there with 30m thieving exp, and only like 190 skill total.

Personally, I don't think the numbers are a 'true' representation of how many players have created accounts, or has played RuneScape at all. It is the numbers that represent all accounts created since the launch of RuneScape. This would also include accounts made by gold farmers, RWT adbots, players with multiple accounts, and mass botting accounts.
I would like to see the number that reflects the actual amount of players that 'play' the game, excluding the frivolous accounts that have been created for illegal activity in RuneScape. Especially, since Jagex is not currently combating the ilk that is invading the game once again.
I am not impressed with those numbers, but rather, it disturbs me to see just how bad Jagex has allowed things to progress in the game. Nearly 200 million players, this made me laugh out loud in real life.

Dare a J-Mod show his face on this topic lol, what mod honestly thought of this what have you done with the Jagex staff?! replaced them with a bunch of baboons...
Another stupid update/news after another hurry up and bring bh before this game turns into WoW.
