Well perhaps because Jagex are losing money, they have decided to work a bit harder on customer relations. When people define that as "caring for their community", I see nothing wrong with that. In the end, Runescape would never have been possible in the first place, without a successful balancing act between strategic commercial interest and passionate community involvement. For me it remains the best possible business model for creative industries.

Because of Meleescape.

Whips were doomed when Jagex started releasing overpowered melee weapons, it was just a matter of time for the demand for whips to drop as the overpowered weapons became more affordable.

This will happen again in GWD is released, or dragonclaws, or any other overpowered weapon.
