I can see why they are doing what they are doing, the game needs to be freshened up - in some ways this update is years too late.
However, what I really don't like is the way that a lot of our previous game play is being made irrelevant. It really doesn't inspire players to encourage them to work for a reward, and then just snatch that away. This is happening with the quests, dung weapons, overloads, dragon claws and many other things.
I found the official post on the main page to be in really bad taste. Basically - 'we are changing things so the economy is going to change and stuff you if you have a pair of dragon claws!' Jagex have not been sympathetic at all to their veteran players who now form the majority of the player base. Most of the objections that have come up have been brushed under the carpet and dismissed. And since new players will have a choice between consoles and RS, I dont think there will be many. Jagex should listen to the people who play their game.
I read Hades post on the previous page and agreed with a lot of what he said. I still think EoC is necessary, but it needs to be implemented in the right way. I'm going to try it for a bit - but if the cracks aren't properly filled then yeah, I will stop playing.
There is a bit of trust issue between players and Jagex - mainly to do with the whole, 'we hate RWT, and then some years later, c'mon addicted people, buy all your lamps!'.
It's time for Jagex to earn our trust back - make sure this update is a good one and don't ignore your vet players concerns.
