A little math for you jagex: If there are 90k people online, and (let's be generous here) 20% of those people are members who are interested in the snowmen raids, then that's 18k players (I counted nearly 25k across less than a third of the members worlds). 18k spread across 117 worlds (139 worlds minus the 22 free worlds), is 153/154 players per world. If 5% of those players used cannons, then each world would have 7/8 cannons out during the event.
So, under these conditions, you have ~150 people and ~7 cannons operating in a confined area. That spells lag even without the addition of snowmen animations. When everyone starts going at it though, it's worse. Thanks to the generous portions of latency being dished out, combined with the cannons, many players are unlikely to manage to act against the snowmen before they die. More often than not, they'll find that the snowman has died while they were turning around to throw a dart at it.
Do your homework Jagex.
