Jagex General competition Terms & Conditions

• These terms and conditions (the 'Rules') together with any specific rules detailed for individual competitions (a 'Competition') are the general rules which apply to any competition run on any website owned by Jagex Limited ('Jagex'), unless otherwise stated. Entry into any Competition is conditional upon and confirms acceptance of the Rules, as well as any specific rules relating to a Competition.


• All information detailed on our website or in relation to entry requirements for any Competition forms part of these Rules. All Competitions are subject to the Rules unless expressly stated otherwise. Entrants to Competitions accept and agree to abide by these Rules. All Competition results are final and no correspondence will be entered into. Submission of an entry will be taken to mean acceptance of these Rules as well as any specific terms and conditions expressly stated to be applicable to any particular Competition.

In the event of any discrepancy between these Rules and any Competition specific terms and conditions, the Competition specific terms and conditions will prevail.

Competition Entry

• Entry requirements will be made clear at the time of each Competition. Entries should include the entrant's Jagex account name and a valid email address (or a valid email address for a parent or guardian if the entrant is under 13), unless otherwise stated at the time of the Competition.


• Details of which countries a Competition is open to will be made clear at the time of the Competition. There is no minimum age limit for entry into Competitions unless expressly stated otherwise. Any entrants under the age of 18 must however secure the consent of a parent or guardian before entering a Competition and may be required to provide their parents' contact details to verify such consent and claim any prize, if Jagex requires this.


• Employees of Jagex, affiliates of Jagex, marketing partners, PR agencies associated with Jagex and members of their immediate families (including any live-in partner or household member) may not enter any Jagex Competition.


• Jagex reserves the right to ask for verification of the identity of any entrant at any time and may carry out checks of any details provided. Jagex also reserves the right to require verification of the identity of a parent or guardian, if the entrant is under 18.


• The opening and closing dates and times for entries are as indicated in the Competition information. Any entries received before or after the opening or closing of a Competition will not be considered unless otherwise stated.


• Late, illegible, incomplete, defaced or corrupt entries will not be accepted. No responsibility can be accepted by Jagex for lost entries and proof of transmission will not be accepted as proof of receipt. Entries must not be sent through agencies or third parties.


• Where an entrant submits an original work as part of a competition, the submission must be the original work of the individual submitting it and must not be copied in whole or in part from somewhere else. It is the responsibility of each entrant to ensure any work they submit does not infringe copyright of any third party or any laws.


• If an entrant submits an original work to Jagex as its entry to a Competition, the entrant grants to Jagex an irrevocable licence to use that original work for any purpose connected with or arising out of the Competition or the business of Jagex. This applies unless stated otherwise in relation to any specific Competiton.


• All results will be final.


• Jagex will not be liable to reimburse expenses or costs incurred in entering any Competition.


• When Competition entry involves the use of any third party website, entrants must comply with all terms and conditions of that website.


• Unless otherwise stated in relation to a specific Competition, each person may only enter a Competition once.


• Some Competitions have alternative entry methods. Please see details relating to each Competition. All Competitions are free to enter, where one method of entry requires payment of some form to enter, another free method will be available for entrants. See the information relating to each Competition for details.


• Unless otherwise stated at the time of a competition, all participants in any competition must have registered a valid email address with Jagex to be eligible to win. Competition winners who haven't registered an email address will be contacted upon winning and asked to register their email address. (This applies for any competition launched after 11/08/2010)

Winners

• Prizes will be specified in the competition information. Where the prize involves travelling, the winner (and companions if applicable) may be required to hold a valid passport and/or other necessary travel documentation and visas. Where travel is involved Jagex will communicate with the winner(s) of a competition (or their parent or guardian if they are under 18) to decide a mutually acceptable date of travel, however the final decision will rest with Jagex. Where prizes involve travel of any description, any winner under the age of 18 may need to be accompanied by a parent or guardian (this will be clarified at the time of the Competition win).


• The process of deciding the winner of a prize will be indicated in the Competition information. The winners of a competition will be notified within 14 days of the closing of the Competition unless the stated otherwise in relation to a specific Competition. Polls on official Jagex websites may be used to help determine the winners of Competitions, depending on the nature of the Competition.


• Jagex will generally attempt to notify the winner of a Competition within a reasonable timeframe after the closing date of a Competition. Winners will be contacted via email or inbox message to the given Jagex account name. Jagex reserves the right to select an alternative winner if there is no communication from the winner of a competition within 14 days of closing the Competition unless otherwise stated in any terms and conditions relating specifically to the Competition.


• Jagex reserves the right to include a final date by which a prize must be accepted.


• Jagex reserves the right in its sole discretion to refuse to provide a prize, or seek its recovery, in the event of a breach of these Rules, fraud, dishonesty, for any inappropriate conduct or for any other reason. The prizes are as stated in the Competition information and are not transferable, refundable or substitutable. Jagex reserves the right to substitute any of the prizes advertised for prizes of a similar value, in its sole discretion.


• Jagex reserves the right in its sole discretion to withhold delivery of any prize until proof of eligibility has been confirmed or such other information as Jagex reasonably requires is provided to Jagex.


• Events may occur that render a Competition itself or the awarding of prizes impossible due to unforeseen circumstances. Jagex reserves the right to amend these Rules, the rules relating to any Competition or withdraw any Competition at any time and the entrant agrees that no liability shall attach to Jagex as a result thereof.


• If not made publicly available, the names of winners can be made available by sending a stamped, self-addressed envelope to

Data Protection and Publicity

• Jagex may use an entrant's Jagex account name and competition entry and their comments relating to the prize, their personal details (if submitted) and Competition experience in future promotional and marketing material without any notice or payment to the entrant.


• Any personal data will only be used in accordance with Jagex's privacy policy which can be viewed at http://www.runescape.com/privacy/privacy.ws .

Liability

• Jagex cannot accept any responsibility for any damage, loss, injury or disappointment suffered by any entrant to any competition.

Standard Terms

• If any entrant does not, or is unable to comply with these Rules and with the Competition information, Jagex shall be entitled at its sole discretion to disqualify the entrant without any further liability to such entrant. Any entrant must comply with any directions given to him or her by Jagex including but not limited to any and all relevant laws and rules and regulations.
