Some facts about RuneScape Classic: (Stolen from Reddit 5yo)

You know that yellow or red X that appears when you click on something? That is the exact same X that we had in RSC. It's the one part of the interface that has never changed in over thirteen years of game updates.

There was no running. Everyone moved at what we now consider walking speed.

Only one person could talk to an NPC at a time, and every dialogue line from both player and NPC would appear over their heads. Banking in Varrock became an exercise in spam-clicking the banker in hopes of securing their attention because there were so many people around.

General stores used to be popular! The one in Varrock on w1 was almost always full of people trying to buy or sell random items. Since shop stocks were not instanced, this meant people competed for space in which to sell things.

RSC pre-dated the combat triangle, so most content was designed with melee in mind. You couldn't range when an enemy was attacking you. Metal armor gave the best protection but didn't hinder ranged or magic. In fact, one of the most OP things you could do on RSC was mage in full rune (which was the best armor at the time).

All spells had a chance of fizzling when cast. When this happened, you kept your runes, but you couldn't cast any more magic for 20 seconds.

Dragon Slayer was actually HARD. Elvarg hit like a truck.

Weapons all attacked at the same speeds. This meant that battleaxes and two-handed swords were the best weapons because they had the highest stats.

You couldn't eat in combat, and combat always lasted a minimum of three rounds of attacks before you could click to retreat. Monsters would sometimes run away as well. An entire style of PKing arose in which you tried to "3-hit" your opponent before they could run away. I think this may have been the birth of the pure.
