Fun Fact of the Day

The axial tilt of Uranus is nearly 98 degrees, which is approximately 90 degrees sideways to the other planets in the Solar System. This near-right angle means that the planet rotates on its side, and thus experiences the most extreme seasons in our Solar System.

The reason for this tilt is commonly believed to at least two collisions during the formation of the Solar System -- not one titanic collision as previously thought, since Uranus's major moons do not have retrograde motion as such an event would have caused.
