Did you know...

...that when using mental arithmetic, various tricks can be used to quickly check the divisibility of large numbers by smaller ones?

For instance, divisibility by 3.

To check whether or not a number is divisible by 3, simply add all of the digits together and check whether the sum of these is divisible by 3! If the result is still too large to be conveniently divided mentally, the digits of the result can be added again until it's clear (if the number is divisible, you should be able to keep going until you end up with 3, 6, or 9):

Is 5952 divisible by 3?

5 + 9 + 5 + 2 = 21, so 5921 is divisible by 3.
