Who was the first rock n roll artist?
The most widely held belief is that the first rock'n'roll single was 1951's Rocket 88, written by Ike Turner, sung by Jackie Brenston (the saxophone player from Turner's backing band The Kings of Rhythm), and recorded by Sam Phillips, who later went on to found Sun records and discover Elvis Presley.

What did Sacagawea's name mean?
If the woman's name was Sacajawea, the word might be Shoshoni, meaning "boat launcher." However, if the spelling is more properly Sacagawea, the name would be Hidatsa and translate as "Bird Woman." The journal evidence from Lewis and Clark appears as to support a Hidatsa derivation.

Who was the first Postmaster General of the US?
In 1775, the Continental Congress appointed Benjamin Franklin Postmaster General (PMG). Franklin had previously served in that post under the Crown. He was followed by his son-in-law, Richard Bache, and Ebenezer Hazard. The first Postmaster General of the new United States of America was Samuel Osgood.

What part of the body never stops growing?
Bones, stop growing after puberty and muscle and fat cells also stop dividing. But cartilage - that's the plastic-like stuff in ears and noses - cartilage continues to grow until the day you die. Not only does cartilage grow, but the earlobes elongate from gravity.

Who is in the g8?
G8 stands for Group of Eight and is made up of leaders from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Russia, the UK and the United States of America. The leaders of these countries take it in turns to be president of the G8, with the leader of the host country acting as the president that year.

Can a judge overturn a jury verdict in a criminal case?
The fact of the matter is that a judge is an expert on the law and the jury is not. The judge can overturn a guilty verdict and find the defendant not guilty, but not the other way around. Instead of overturning a guilty verdict, the judge can order a new trial.
