The Legend. The English translation of "fleur-de-lis" (sometimes spelled "fleur-de-lys" ) is "flower of the lily." This symbol, depicting a stylized lily or lotus flower, has many meanings. Traditionally, it has been used to represent French royalty, and in that sense it is said to signify perfection, light, and life.

The four-pointed star symbol in Christianity is usually styled to resemble a cross.
Also known as the Star of Bethlehem or natal star, this star represents both Jesus' birth and the purpose for which he was born.
It is used especially for church decoration during the Advent and Christmas seasons.

In response to your question, Hefin, for the clan cloak symbol, I would say the symbol of perfection, purity, light and life, if it is going to be changed, only to keep questions of a religious sybolism from popping up.
