The thread you will need to check daily for best combo:

I maintain a post on the last page of that thread but I can't update at game reset, usually many hours behind. But all you need is the information in the 1st post on that thread.

You then use the following page:
https://runescape.wiki/w/Rune_Goldberg_Machine

You will see a table on that page which you can sort by ge price (column 3 - sort it so that water & earth are at the top).
The price in column 3 tells you how much it costs to use that rune in a vis wax slot.

You then weigh the amount of wax you get with the cost of the slot to determine what is best profit.

You basically only want to use the lowest 8 runes - if you only use earth water air fire mind body death chaos you will be doing the right thing more than 99% of the time.

Don't worry about this info until we've interacted with the goldberg machine - it will make more sense after that.
