Hey there everyone, I've been a denizen of Gielinor for many many years now, and if something happened it was predominantly my fault. But as of late: Roughly the past 3 weeks. my RS3 client has been freezing and crashing. At first it was very sparse (maybe once every couple hours) But as of late it's been every 3-5 minutes. I would be skilling or PVMing, and then suddenly my mouse lags, everything stops, and then I get logged out and the game crashes.

This wouldn't be nearly as frustrating, but when you're fighting a high level monster, and suddenly you crash and find yourself at death's door more often than not. That can definitely be irritating.

Has anyone else had this problem as of late? Has anyone been able to mitigate it?

Oh yes, I often experienced game-breaking screen freezes last summer, until I finally decided to switch my client to play in Compatibility Mode. I've been playing in CM for about the past five months. It's laggy, compared to Normal Mode, but I have not had my screen freeze once since making this switch.

Do you find certain areas of the game are more likely to cause your game to freeze and crash? That was what I noticed before I began playing in Compatibility Mode. I filed an extensive bug report with Jagex, detailing my findings. Last time I checked, about two months ago, the issue still hadn't been resolved. Apparently, they would prefer to focus on fixing typos and punctuation errors...you know, the really important problems. *rolls eyes* I've been putting out fire with gasoline! ^_^

Honestly it's been anywhere. I was 1x1 with nex and I crashed me outta my instance( lost my freebie) and essentially locked me from doing nex period.

I could be alone bossing or in the GE one thing that I've seen is it happens if I'm skilling or sometimes even when I JUST log in. It's really disheartening. Because I did switch to CM one of my clan members actually suggested it. And it worked for about a day before it acted right back up again...

I had experiences similar to what Kat described above. I was able to escape the freezing and crashing via CM. Yes, it can lag. At least it works for me.

JueseBelmont, if CM hasn't improved your gameplay (aside from the lag, of course), that is odd. I would suggest you post about this in Community Led Technical Support, if you haven't already done so. Someone there might be of help to you. Good luck! Aslon Dak: Still 'Scaping after 19 years!

Community Led Technical Support has some really sharp people who regularly post there to help others with all manner of technical issues. You may even find other players there who are having problems similar to your own, who could provide you with useful feedback in addition to whatever assistance you may get from the community helpers.
