I am forced to play the game, I force myself because I do enjoy most of it ;-)
The "up-to-date" game is RS3, it's graphics are a-ma-zing, on a par with if not better than other MMOs, but that is hardly "OldSchool", is it? If you want to make something from scratch first create a world

That, Jeremy Cheng, that could be a solution, fix any bugs or issues but leave the game basically as it was in 2007, put it on a separate world and see how the players react to that Surely it would be a winner if it would run on otherwise obsolete mobile devices If you want to make something from scratch first create a world

As the latest update launched today 30th November I couldn't believe my eyes when I logged in. 1 million xp for free due to having all quests completed! I always took a break from osrs when updates like this came through because it's so breathtaking to lose all of the great feeling of progression in a second like that. Today I finally realized that stop playing the game is the most efficient way to grind the game. To quit the game is the most priceworthy investment you can do because when you come back something has most certainly become much easier or a few new best in slot has been released. Most updates today are focused on making the game easier and Jagex seem to forget where they're heading. Runescape 3 will soon has its younger TWIN brother for some reason called "Old school Runescape" next to it.

Runescape 2007 with updates like: bug fixes, new content only to continue stories and new unique bosses/items that are NOT killing any old content. Yes... That's heaven.

Rule number one when they are thinking about an update should be Imo: "Could this update kill any already existing content? If so, we should not do this".
