I can't even describe the amount of sadness and hate I have in my heart right now. I have lost so many items from my bank, and i'm on the verge of tears.
Santa hat, blue/red/green hwe'ens, christmas scythe, meditation rest animation scroll, fish masks....countless items worth billions....all gone.
I don't even understand how it happened as I use two-factor authentication and never share my password. I take all the security measures I can, yet I still managed to get hacked and lose so much.
Does anybody know of a way to protect my account even more? They must have guessed my password, removed my authenticator, and removed my bank pin. And I wasn't notified of any of this???? No emails about any of this at all. I really think something needs to change there.
First off sorry to hear about your loss. The same thing happened to me a while back, so I know how gutting this may feel. Hang in there!
It seems high value accounts that haven't been played on for a while are targeted. About a year before I was hacked I received an email which notified me someone had sent an account recovery request, I emailed Jagex support querying this and was told not to worry, for me to make sure I had 2FAC enabled and that there were extensive notes on my account to make sure illegitimate recovery requests weren't authorised - it still didn't stop me being hacked for Partyhat and other rares.
As far as I could tell someone had successfully recovered my account and even managed to change my registered email and I received no notifications at all despite having set 2FAC.
I reached out to Jagex and was told that it was likely my email was compromised, I thought that was odd as my email also has 2FAC authentication.
All I can say is have a dedicated email for your Runescape account and upgrading to a Jagex account. Also you might be interested in supporting this as it addresses some of these issues.

I have switched to a Jagex account, and have secured my email. So shouldn’t hopefully have this issue again. It really sucks, but it’s not going to stop me playing. I still have all my overrides, cosmetics and pets so that’s something!

Just had the same thing happen to me. Everything collect over 20 years of playing gone. billions lost so discouraging. lost all faith not even one email or anything from jagex.
