Gotta agree here. The Wilderness is already bad but this update just makes it worse (except for the opt-in part of course, no PvP for the win).
Also, Jagex, let us use Invention to create a portable jammer to protect against the heat-seeking volcano rocks as well as a motion tracker to protect against the monster ambushes Pl0x.
It's nice to be important, but it's more important to be nice.

Just saying, but there needs to be some risk involved with getting the larger rewards so if this were to happen it would be completely unbalanced.
I think most ppl here are forgetting the obvious fact that this is still the wilderness thus its supposed to be dangerous.

Op-in pvp is a major benefit at least for me as that'll pretty much guarantee no death runs for rcing.
You already had no death runs for runecrafting. It was called altars. Abyss will still skull you. Abyss will still need demonic skull for max xp, which opens you to pvp. So Abyss will still be pvp.

It's focused on giving more slayer and reaper points. That means I will be making even LESS money as hydrix gems crash to dust.
They didn't recover from double reaper weekend, and now they are doomed for the clearance aisle at Walmart.
Skillers doing things like Charming Moths and Wilderness Agility are gonna be ganked by the environment(volcano) mobs(threat level) and pvpers(Demonic Skull) Talk about Fun!
Honestly aside from the graphical overhaul, this event sounds like shit. As a pvper, a pvmer, and on rare occasion a skiller. I have to manually skull myself on wilderness entry to enable pvp. I don't mind running around skulled when I'm attacking people, but I want some downtime from it if I'm doing other tasks. I don't want to be skulled 24/7, I don't wanmt to have to leave every time to enter or exit pvp mode. The fact theres no bonuses for being pvp enabled is just stupid.
