Let me start with a little bit of SEO, to encourage strangers on google to find this post.
TH Promo, Assassin walk token, Assassin Promo, Treasure Hunter, Promotional offers online, RNG predictions, Should I buy keys?

Firstly, if you're a purist and you believe that the only reason this game is alive is because of the grandfather rates of your membership from 2004, please find another post.

This game, is funded primarily by promotions, bonds, key events and smart marketing, the drip release of old promos and the incentive of unlocking items that a small corrupt minority of the game decide to make inaccessible for others through holding, buying mass and lifting prices.
- Okay, this happens everywhere, its business.

That being said, I actually fund multiple accounts, for friends, family and I actively encourage people to get involved in games that I play. I love the lore, I love the cosmetics, the content is getting better and the mechanics are actually quite fun to work with.

My rant is probably more aimed at soft caps.

If for example a player buys x amount of keys, in x amount of promos, naturally in other games that player would be given an RNG advantage, or something to justify the money. I recently read the TH promo was nerfed a while back for encouraging online gambling.

So my question to Mr Marketing, where is the value for the money I have invested into the game?

Why is the forum centralised on a website away from the official forums to navigate away from players adding content to Runescape itself, it seems like a huge ploy to avoid negative comeback.

Why is there no hard cap on promos, where a guarantee of a cosmetic is granted, say after x amount of keys. The balance of the game is that some get things early and are lucky, and ultimately it is supposed to balance out.

I honestly robbed, I whole heartedly feel like the money I have put onto promos, has just been taken and the value return is like gambling. Please do not fall for it.

The game is designed around older players and older accounts, nothing about the game encourages new people to enter.

This account was made as a FSW account in the last month of the FSW event.

4 other accounts, all actively investing in promos, gifting of promos and keys to friends and family that have also been encouraged to play by me.

Yes, you can say, but its a promo, you take that risk.

But there comes a point, a balance point where the value should be returned to the customer and the current TH promo key events just are not providing equal value on return. My advice to any new player looking at trying to catch up to others, to boost their account to escape the toxicity of Moderator run friendchats, discords and reddit threads.

Wait for Runescape to make a new game, same concept, dont fall for the Promos like me, dont convince yourself if you spend enough that you will secure an item for your character.

If anything, buy bonds and crash the games value on bonds and lower the value of everything.

We all love a grind, we all love to work hard for something, but if the game is just going to continuously deliver terrible results, terrible loot, and ridiculous RNG to trap their main player base in an endless prison of needing to complete the game, then maybe we should start looking at the game as less of a game, and more of a ponsy scheme thats designed to just wear you down and to push you into buying keys.

Sheesh, a game that relies on returning players for a promotional event that gives double XP, maybe take a second to learn that the rates, the RNG measures is just wrong. Yes some people want to waste their life killing the same thing, over 10,000 times to complete a log... in a marketing perspective, stop being so stupid and its about time you annoy the existing tiny player base to open it up to new people.

Who knows, perhaps it will make pvm more accessible, perhaps it will make items in the game affordable for players to be able to compete.

Well that was pointless, the Rants forum is invisible unless you're logged in to the website, and as a result isn't indexed by search engines.

Everything in this game is literally designed to trap you in a cycle of completion, for people on the spectrum, leaving something unfinished is not acceptable.

The games design prays on this, Andrew Gower and friends, sat in a pub one day and thought....

"Hey, what if we created a game that players just couldn't escape from, that lasted forever, we can creates Jones accounts and drop RNG into active players, to encourage buying habits of new people, we can lead up to a subscription model which encourages multiple accounts. We could design the game to be so slow, it would be nearly impossible for players to finish it without significant time investment.

We should also make PVM accessible to high level players, but encourage content creators to show how accessible bosses are in entry level gear, it will be funny when real players try these methods, but who knows, it will probably encourage them into buying bonds and keys right?

Lets call it 'Run escape' , that will be funny, we will design the game as much like a prison as possible and sandbox it and deny players to slow them down, encourage buying habits through release of old content and push for as much money as we can, while secretly telling out audience to get out while they can before we engrain completionist into their plans. "

I dunno, yes this is a rant, but sheesh, give some return on the value for money players put into your game. sack off the purists that arent paying your salaries and boosting the market value of the company to progress its life and move it into something more than just an online prison....

Sure, you might think they will leave, but they wont. You've got them trapped.

Increasing XP rates doesnt devalue somebody elses time investment, thats not how the world works, Money is time, I would rather invest an hour of real world money to save 15 hours of grinding, you offer 2 solutions, pay to win (but you dont actually win) or just suffer and do things really slowly...

I don't agree with all of this, but it is an awesome read. The balance of promos is absurd. They see no problem with having almost no value for a key, and also having promos that require tens of thousands of dollars to hit the drop rate for a rare. (according to posters on Reddit)

Necromancy promises to make a new combat experience that anyone can progress in, without needing billions. So they do have a plan.

Appreciate the comment.

I still think the game is awesome, my clan is awesome, and the necromancy soon to come actually does look like a much more accessible gear progression and combat system, so I whole heartedly agree, there is a plan.

Hey Aeliad, Jagex/Jmods have designed this game for '
all walks of life
' having all their point of view on a matter, creating their own opinions therefore also demanding updates/upgrades the way they like.

Jagex/JMods love to cater every individual and respect their point of view and their demands for new updates/upgrades but Jagex/JMods also wanna '
stay neutral
'.
That's where the challenges are ...

... and there are updates/upgrades which will be completed in time but not at the same moment. Some updates have been waiting for ages to come but due to other developments not coming soon enough.
Jagex/JMods did answer to '
We Pay We Say
' but that doesn't say that will go on forever. '
Every era has an end and Beginning of Something New
'.
