(No I wasn't scammed by this person)

There is a person doing the telegram scam (the scam which also involves an exploit so this is scamming AND bug abuse) who has been at it for MONTHS, as stated in the title. I've reported them a few times including to the Jagex tip line. I'm in a couple discords where multiple people have reported them numerous times and also to the jagex tip line. This person is still at it. In all the scam posts here, General, and other forums we are told Jagex actively works to ban scammers and touts high numbers of bans - but that is a bit hard to believe seeing the same exact account doing it for so long. A few days and even weeks I could understand...but four months? Seriously?

Sometimes the burner low level account changes but it's the same main account. Same keepsake overrides and stats. What is the point of having the feature to report scammers and a tip line if they are ignored? Again - this isn't a one off. It's at least scores of people reporting the same person for months, attempting the same scam on a different person each time.

I know we can't say names on forums. Here's a hint of who is being referred to - the main account's name is an animal sound followed by the gender of their character. In the screenshots Jagex received they are wearing a white partyhat and comp cape.

For context about the scam - it's the one where a throwaway account leads the scam and their main account / maxed friend comes out to "warn" you / redirects your thought process about the scam.

I'm doubtful the person even actually plays considering how often their name comes up in scam discussions. The account may have even been hacked, botted, or purchased as I can't see a maxed player doing this all the time unless they just really gave up on playing.

@Tomato 56789, Jagex/JMods will receive your reports in good order but if they have an aim at someone/something that doesn't mean that that problem (for you) is soon to be erased. Maybe further investigations are needed, more thorough more valuable, to get to the core of the problem Jagex/JMods are investigating.
After all it is their '
Digital Porperty
' they have to take care of so anything they will do will stick in court to win any case without loss.
I know it can be painstaking to see but the one thing you shouldn't do is to stick around and see what will happen with your reports. This is something RuneScape wasn't designed for.
Jagex/JMods would love to take away all problems but taking it away doesn't mean that it is away. Eventually it will pop-up somewhere else in RuneScape with more destruction.
They just are looking for better more permanent solutions and in the meantime we, after reporting, should move away from these problems and continue our own gameplay in RuneScape.

I don't "Stick around" to see what happens. What I see are other people constantly naming the same exact scammer / bug abuser over and over again, and being personally targeted by the throwaway accounts of that same person.

(I pretend to play along until the person's main account shows up so that I can report it).

Scammers will always be around, it's just disheartening to see a single scammer and bug abuser be active for months. It's clear that's how their time is spent in-game, and they may get occasional mutes or short bans but if all they play for is to scam and exploit a bug on. the. same. account. it baffles me they don't get a perma ban. And again, especially when I'm far from the only person reporting them. This dumbass doesn't even keep track of who they target and will try it on the same people multiple times lol. Speaks volumes about how often they do it.

Welcome to the forums, LegendL3gacy.

As a new use of the forums, please be aware that naming others in a negative light is not permitted here. There is no way that anyone reading this thread can verify the allegations you have made against thes players. As such, your post above has been removed.

If you happen to fall for a scam in-game, please make sure that you report the offenders using the Report feature. Your report will capture a recent snapshot of all recent interaction, providing Jagex the information it needs to investigate.

Before you post again, please avoid naming others in your post, to accuse them of in-game misconduct.

I believe I've had that scammer PM me on their accounts once years ago. Same script they PMed me with. The main is also throwaway, they don't care if it finally gets banned after years of reports they can just buy another comped phat main on black market websites and continue the scam like nothing happened.

Unfortunately true, it would just be nice if the throaway mains actually got banned so they'd have to spend the money on new accounts. I understand Jagex not acting quickly on every single report - but when the same person is racking up more reports than a lvl 99 woodcutter cuts oaks it should flag their attention quicker than a 1-off report

To put it simply, Jagex doesn't care. There are scammers spamming messages all the time in world 84 grand exchange and most get reported by multiple players but nothing is ever done. Jagex doesn't care. Truth. Thanks for your time, I never seem to have enough of my own.

This type of scam has been around for as long as there have been MMORPGs.

Sadly, some players still foolishly fall victim to these dirtbags. If common sense was more common, people would know better - but when the player is either naive or greedy, that player disregards common sense, then regrets it.

The harsh truth is nobody can scam you without your permission - so do not give it to them.

What gets people with this one is they think they are going to scam the scammer. My rant isn't necessarily about scams existing though as all trade games have them, it's the bug abuse factor.
