So I hear the drumsticks drop was improved, which is nice for players wishing to complete the Old Black Magic Quest.

What about the prerequisites for Remains of the Necrolord? It can take hours or even days to find the items to start the Nadir and Vengeance miniquests. This is especially frustrating for players who don't have the ability to play many hours a day who just want to do the necromancy storyline. There are In-game warnings about health if you stay logged in for too long, so it's implied Jagex cares about RS-life balance.

Yes, on any game those who can be on more can get farther. That is fair in many circumstances. Highscores, in-game wealth, points in minigames and other activities, boss kills and developing the skills for pvm, etc. The ability to simply start a quest being gated behind RNG is unreasonable - especially now that those miniquests were released a decade ago and considering this game has very few new players most who play now have real life obligations which can interfere with a grind for a "drop" to simply begin a quest.

Why not improve the appearance chance of the saga start items or add some form of bad luck mitigation? Especially since those miniquests are hard requirements for traditional quests.

RNG, frustrating as it can be at times, is totally fair for items that can produce wealth or significantly improve your gameplay. Making something rare implies it is powerful / special. Gear and overpowered abilities from bosses make sense, as do the fashionable items from clues and even the different potion recipes. Starting a quest? Not so much.

Gotta agree with this rant - quests should be startable as soon as you meet the requirements for it, whether that is stats, reputation, or pre-requisite other quests - it shouldn't be locked behind pure luck at getting something... Things may be looking down now, but I see a light at the end of the tunnel;
Do you think I should get off the tracks?

Agreed. Mitigation is now more than ever needed for these rng based requirements. And add a special wildcard costing more than others that guarantees the items that start the saga.

TBH we can probably expect riots as more players level up and run into this. Not just normal riots, DG HOLE RIOTS.

Not only are they asking players to complete those sagas, they need to play dungeoneering to even start it. A lot of endless searching behind doors they do not want to open.

I remember complaining about all of this on release, it was the early days of completionist mumbo jumbo. They design things for completionists, it's always more difficult than it should be, and eventually it needs to be changed for the majority of players.

If there is some important lore in those sagas I sure don't remember it. Moia bad. Thok good. Got it!

Thanks for the support guys.

I actually enjoy lore but I focus on regular quests and hit up miniquests when I'm not focused on something else. I saw the miniquests were required and I was like...okay, I can do those. Excuse to knock sagas out. But then I wasted 4 hours looking for an item that I still haven't found and got less than 100k dungeoneering xp when I could have instead gained 1-2mil necro xp in that time.

Even in instances where a quest start being a drop is appropriate it should be mitigated or only like 1/10. I have read some people getting sagas in under an hour and others spending 10+ hours. For a hard quest requirement it's ridiculous.

So I'm gearing up to get ready to do this (mini?)quest, and from the wiki
https://runescape.wiki/w/Damaged_device
for the device to start the quest...
Original message details are unavailable.
It can be found on floors 18 to 22 on any complexity. This is not a monster drop. Instead, it will be found on the floor and appear to be part of the scenery. It will not show up on the minimap. There is not a 100% chance that you will find it.

So it's only on 5 floors, it is hard to find, and it's not guaranteed to be there? WTF!?!

^ Correct. Seems best bet is to just run those floors on c1 over and over. It's common for some but if you have bad luck be prepared to sacrifice millions of necromancy experience for a few thousand dungeoneering xp lol
