Why do I have to log in every time I want to play, and have a verification code sent by e-mail?

I have another account that I use with Steam, and here I never have to log in.

Your security garbage only makes things more cumbersome to the point where it is a pain to use.

Let me log in once, and then remember it for all future plays, just like Steam does.

I am very close to uninstalling the Launcher, dropping the new character I have made, and only play on my Steam account. I do not want to play with multiple characters, when it requires cumbersome login every time.

Something seems off here.

The whole point of the launcher is so you don't have to keep logging in / verifying your log in. The only time you should need to do that is on a day like today, after Jagex do maintenance to the launcher (see the news).

Perhaps it is just today's maintenance that has caught you out. Try it again to see if it happens again.

Like Cole said, the launcher usually remembers your credentials for a while so you don't have to authenticate constantly. Aside from maintenance like today, you also need to re authenticate if you sign out. It could be that this is the reason you have to authenticate more often than usual. You know the sign out button below the button with the character you're logging in with? When you're done playing, close the window without clicking that. How to block a forum user
