Authenticator, security questions, email that is already attached, zero third party software associated with RS, etc. If someone can get past all that, well it's a bit of a catch-22 until issues with the jagex account, which several people I actually know have experienced, are resolved.

people still get hacked with that. saw it all the time in rants section.

nothing is perfect, but there will always be upgrades. jag account is one of those upgrades

Most hacks seem to be from people following links to fake RS sites or using third-party programs. That excludes those hacked by friends. I know there's something with linked steam accounts too that hackers use to bypass

I never even said I'm against the jag account - just it needs to be cleaned up or Jagex needs to set up better customer support for those who experience the errors with it

Agreed.

I have personally never been hacked. Never. I have very good security, and I do not take stupid risks like clicking links, using public wifi, and so forth. It has been my experience virtually all "hacks" are due to carelessness on the part of the victim, not brute force hacking.

If some players do not feel they can trust themselves online, and wish Jagex to hold their hand throughout the login process - if they would rather spend their time constantly changing passwords, checking their E-mail for the latest validation code, solving CAPTCHA puzzles, whatever hoops they have to jump through, instead of actually playing the game - I won't begrudge them that. Some may need a 'net nanny. I do not.

I see no good reason why the rest of us must be punished with needless complication, just because some people shouldn't be online unsupervised. Account safety is our responsibility. We should be allowed to secure our account as best we can, as we see fit.

We are not all children.
I've been putting out fire with gasoline! ^_^

i never said you were. but as i said before, nothing is perfect. there are always going to be people with issues with making an account, people had issues making an account with the old method.

what we do know is. is the issues that happened came from email supplier, not jagex themselves. (Yahoo/AOL) as mentioned in the support article.

and also people not understanding what jag account actually was. many rants and complaints appeared just due to that. like not logging in with old username.

and also... that it is very rare when someone had an issue. (ignoring the email situation)

now you are just taking a big risk not doing it. but if you dont want to till its mandatory then go for it. im just here giving information,
