Last week had to re-authenticate 3 times with the remember this device for 30 days ticked off. Had to do so again this morning. So honestly it's either Jagex is broken which is what I've been blaming it on. Although I do have some over zealous security software on my machine, I'd hazard a guess it's possibly the culprit.
So yep I'm effected just can't tell to whom I should be blaming for this style of aggravation today. So I guess I'll choose both. That way I'm correct no matter the outcome...

That's a cache issue. It can happen if your game cache gets corrupted for whatever reason.
I recommend using the Steam client so you don't need to worry about this. Steam has it's own authenticator which you should also setup if you decide to do this but will definitely not give you this problem as the Steam cache rarely gets corrupted in comparison to the NXT client's game cache. Note: The Steam cache and NXT client cache get stored on different folders of your PC, so one would be unaffected by the other.

No, it is not a cache issue, because it happens on ALL the machines which I have authenticated, not just one.
Also, it ONLY happens after a game update, but affects both logging in to the game and the website.

It could be you are having a cache issue on all machines? If it only happens after a game update then that would make sense since you must pull new cache data, but I'm not sure what authenticator even has to do with cache to be honest.
