This forum needs a bit of a rework to be honest.
The communication with jagex only happens through platform like twitter, reddit and discord.

The forum is outdated compared to modern forums where you can actually delete posts. Etc.

JMods don't even read the forums.

Why bother posting content idea's?

It definitely feels that way, but I saw evidence the other day that Jmods actually do read the forums.

The (closed) thread in question

Now of course I don't know what prompted this particular instance of a Jmod responding, especially since it's the sort of thread I see 100s of on a monthly basis.

Anyway, I also wish, like you, that it was more obvious to us players that they took an interest in what we write.

I guess it's kind of like believing in god?

The Forums have been needing a lot of work for the longest now. To avoid repeating information, I am going to add a few threads where Mod Lyon -- part of Jagex Web Team -- has shared his thoughts on the state of the Forums and updates.

1. Forum Notifications & Changes .
2. Forum Overhaul .

Prior to the pandemic, it was not possible for most Jagex Moderators to use their accounts outside of Jagex HQ. For this reason, most members of the team decided to use Social Media because it permitted them to communicate and engage with the community while being at home. This drove in a lot of people due to the fact that Social Media tends to have features and tools that one would not find here on the RuneScape Forums. Now, it's the norm. I believe Jagex Moderators are still mostly working from home.

All in all, I wholeheartedly believe that if they had time to focus on the Forums to update them, it'd make it easier to use and it'd also bring in more users, specially those that departed due to the archaic feeling that the Forums currently have.

I certainly agree that the forums are in need of a lick of paint. I know I'm not alone, as it's a sentiment shared by many.

The good news is, Jagex still recognises the importance of the forums. This in part thanks to the excellent work of Mod Kari, who has sought to promote the forums and encourage community engagement. Of course, she is not alone in her efforts, with Mod Meadows having played a role, and several others (including Lyon) popping in at times to personally respond to threads and discuss concerns. Another step in the right direction was the work to fix the avatar bug, and I can only hope this is continued with the clan flags and titles.

I would therefore disagree with the notion that the moderators do not read the forums. They most certainly do, but we can't expect them to read and reply to every message or idea that's posted. Jagex's staff might be a little more active on social media, but even then, they do not reply to everything.

I think we're in a good position at the moment, and the next step should be to update the forums to improve their looks, usability, and functionality. With that said, it's no easy job, but it would be lovey to see.

The Forums are a piece of outdated technology!

Why would i never be able to remove my old forum posts?

Other forums have allot more features then the runescape forums.

And communication between the players and jagex should not happen on reddit or twitter.

I imagine you can go through this support page Your personal data rights , other than that, the edit feature might do if the posts are still within the page limit boundaries
Life is like a camera: Just focus on what's important, capture the good times, develop from the negatives, and if things don't work out, take another shot !
