Idk if this is the place to do this but, there is a link on Facebook that is impersonating OSRS that looks decently legit(I know it isn't because I have been playing for many years and recognized that something was off). Anyhow my friend who just recently started playing tagged me in the post because it said you guys were giving away 3 free bonds to player due to the covid-19 pandemic to keep them inside(if this were true it would have been early in the crisis and time would have been added to accounts not bonds given). as soon as you click 'claim now' its asks for your credentials to log in. It still at this point looks legit unless you look at the website at the top. My friend logged in afterwards and was shocked to find all his money and valuables gone. There has to be a something that can be done about this.

Sorry to hear your friend was scammed. :(
You can help prevent this by flagging the Facebook post or profile to Facebook.
Unfortunately nothing can be done to players who lost their items to hijackings.

Though you can help him prevent it again by asking him to scan his device for malware & virus, then add new password and 2FA to his email and at set a new password and authenticator for his RS password and remove any linked accounts he doesn't own under account settings.

Also worth referencing this page with him. :)
How your account could become insecure

Yeah, I told him to change his password and tried to educate him on the many scams that are out there. Pretty much I had to inform him that his stuff is all gone and to rebuild but with a smarter approach to defending his account information. Basically if he isn't on the client signing in then don't type your info.

Hey w420 Stoner,

First of all, please refer to Corder's advice above, as it's rock-solid. That said, I wanted to add a few things regarding what's being done about this on our end.

As LMods, part of what we do every day is investigate and report malicious pages like this on social media, Facebook included. Because of that, and how many we report daily (there are LOTS, and there are always more cropping up, kind of like bots in-game), there's a good chance this particular one has already been escalated by us to Facebook. Sometimes it admittedly takes Facebook a long time to act on these reports, but that's just how it is with these things.

However, since there's always the possibility that we've missed it, or it's new, please feel free to escalate it to Facebook yourself as Corder mentioned. Alternatively, if you post it here, I can look into it myself shortly, though I'll have to immediately remove the post with the information as it could be dangerous to other players.

I just submitted the URLs to the Phishing thing he mentioned I can provide them to you here too if you would like. I just know my friend is pretty rough about it right now. He bought a bunch of bonds and things to get going and now doesn't know if he wants to play anymore. But besides that fact I'm going to continue to play and try to make the community great by finding and reporting things like this.

Thank you for doing that. It should be enough to have done so, but if you'd like to provide it to me as well, you can; it's really up to you.

I'm sorry to hear your friend is going through that. It's totally understandable, and an awful experience. Nevertheless, thanks so much for going the extra mile. Every bit helps!
