Thank you Nick, I'm lead to believe part of your roles involve the Intellectual Property side of things so I assume you understand that a GPL violation is something that's easily fixed but has severe consequences if ignored. This is absolutely something that needs pushing up the ladder.

Please feel free to lock the thread at this point, I'll keep an eye on this being resolved and it should all just blow over, but the worst case scenario of ignoring these requirements too long would be Jagex loses permission to use OpenJDK and wouldn't even be able to run their own game servers, which would make the login lockout look like a chump in comparison.

Yes, copyright law is really a thing.

I package software myself, and a lot of it involving GPL licensed software and even OpenJDK/Java specifically. I could absolutely give you links to where the source for these components is available in my own projects, if I couldn't it would be a crime.

I don't agree with many aspects of Intellectual Property law for many practical reasons, but the law is still the law.
