In that blog, we were told that Jagex was working on strengthening passwords and breached password usage warnings, and that email notifications and validations for account behaviour changes as well as authenticator checks on the website were "coming soon".
We were told specifically that systems are being updated to allow more complex passwords, and that there would be user guides that help users create them.
Further, password manager support was mentioned, along with collaboration with a 3rd party to search online for breached password data.
All good stuff...
But that's almost a year ago.
Can we have an update please, and an estimation of when some of these features might appear - if at all?
Cheers.

This is a particularly important query you have Arch, so I'll try to escalate it to the higher-up. There is no more important for players than their account security.
The last mention of those updates I saw was in
May's 'Gielinor Gazette'
(an Old School newspost) which stated the following in the 'Project Update' section:
Account Security and Login Issues: Late last year we explained that we'd like to make significant changes to the account security features that we offer. Whilst these security features remain high on the list of studio priorities, our tech teams are still focused on delivering long-term solutions to the effects of the sustained malicious attacks which have
a clear noticeable impact on your ability to play
. It's of the utmost importance to fully resolve the situation.
Glad to see this brought up again - I completely forgot about this announcement.
What are your thoughts on providing more of an incentive for players to keep their account(s) secure? For instance, what if players were rewarded with extra TH Keys or an additional day of membership for each month that their authenticator is active? Something like this could help motivate more players to ensure that their accounts are secure - and if it were advertised enough, it could eliminate many of the cases around newer players getting hacked/scammed. These are just a couple examples, but I'd be curious to hear some of your thoughts.

I believe that already there have been taken small tweaks as mentioned in that 'account security blog post', for example, 'Email notifications and validations for account behavior changes' and 'Authenticator checks on the website'.
However, all of these changes will be 'subtle changes' instead of 'obvious big changes'.
All new precautions need to be checked several times to make sure nothing will cause new defects.
This has to be done while we The RuneScape Community use Jagex's servers/systems which doesn't make it any easier.
Before Jagex/JMods will say anything I presume things will already be in place implemented and in working order and that's the way it should be done.
RuneScape & The RSOF, and any other Jagex product, are always 'under construction' to meet tomorrow's standards.
