Gtakingrules - I don't really know how to answer your question. I don't suppose I've thought about it much. I know it's really different? I haven't really played that much in the last few years, so I really don't know exactly what it's like right now.
What I did observe as time went on, and I don't know if it's due to an evolution in the game or just in society in general, is that people don't want to work for things anymore. What I really enjoyed about RS was that you had to work hard to achieve your goals, and when you did achieve it, it seemed to mean something. As Jagex made things easier, the sense of accomplishment decreased. So today's RS generation, who has no clue what it used to be like, likes the idea of things just becoming easier and easier. I guess they play for different reasons than I did. But everyone plays for their own reasons. I do not agree with micro transactions at all, but it does fit into today's society. Everyone wants instant gratification, no one wants to wait and earn things, or be patient. My joy in RS was the journey resulting in the reward. One of the big reasons I just lost interest in playing was because achievements were becoming meaningless. Arguably, all time spent playing RS is meaningless, but it depends on why you play. Jagex took away my reasons. So the new generation of RS is different from the one I maxed in. Even though I don't agree with it, or like it, a lot of other people do. So, meh. Idk. I'm not stuck in bed all day anymore, so it doesn't matter!
Bringing back 2007 scape won't really bring it back. People will still complain and want their instant gratification. But I am curious to see how this plays out. And I will probably play again, I just don't know how long/often. Old RS will probably keep my interest better than the new one. We'll see.
