Hiya,
Just returned from a break of around a year to find my account had been hacked, everything is gone! Guy thought it would be good to drop everything *sob story* and tbh I’m pretty pissed but meh! What I wanna know is how the devil they managed to bypass recovery email account (which had my phone set as extra security) Authenticator and bank pin??? I had no alerts emails or anything to suggest all was not well. Obviously I don’t want this to happen again but what more security can I add? Gutted I have to rebuild but even more pissed at the lack of support and the fact that these buggers got my stuff despite having set up all the stuff jagex suggests.
Ppl on "4 chan" and other sites have been brain washing peoples children into hacking their accounts on some websites for money... Maybe if you have kids they hacked you...
It happened to me with my son thats why I don't pay for member ship anymore...

There is a very good possibility you picked up a key-logger or some time of Trojan that allowed a remote user to access some of your information on your computer.
Jagex has many account security measures in place, but they do very little if your computer has been compromised.
The biggest hole in the whole system is your email account. If someone has access to it, you are basically powerless to stop them from hacking your Runescape account. If you request a password change, or anything account related Jagex emails you a verification link that you must click to make the changes. The hacker then uses that link to make changes, and if your computer is still compromised, and you try to recover your account, more links will be emailed, in which the hacker will use to keep taking your account back.
As far as bank pin and authenticator, they put a request to have bank pin changed and to have authenticator removed, in which Jagex will do. That is why it is important to have bank pin change timer set to as long as possible.
If this happens, I suggest you do some thorough scans on your computer. Once you are sure all viruses are removed (and only after you are sure), you will need to change your password for your email. Only after you have done this, you can start the process of safely recovering your account.
The best way to avoid this in the future is to find an email client that will allow a 2-step authentication (I.E. password and authenticator) so even if your computer does get compromised, they only have 1 step of the 2-step authentication so they can't view your email.
I myself found all of this out the hard way, after losing over 4B. bank.
Sorry you lost your bank, but be safe, get a 2-step email program, and press on.
