nvm Jonat, things can only get better...or worse, but at least England have had some recent glory days. It was tough supporting them through the 90's.

Yorkshire just beat Middlesex too, Yorkies at the top of the league. Happy days :)

Tell me about it, those were hard days. Apart from Goughie, there wasnt much heart in the team then. Yorkshire are doing well this year, im a Sussex boy myself, our glory days are becoming a distant memory slowly...

Fantastic win for Sussex today, I work with a guy from Warwickshire, cant wait to see him tomorrow, lol.

Waricks all out for 99 in their second innings and I'm pretty sure that the last 4 wickets fell for 0 runs.

A few posts I want to make actually(sorry if they're off topic).. Firstly... England.

Englands problem atm is management. Yeah the players could be playing better, but acting rash has caused a lot of issues imo.

Cook, Trott, Prior all lost form at the wrong time. Which just happened to all be right before an ashes. They lost form, panicked, assumed they weren't good enough anymore, dropped the coach, changed half the personel... And why?

Doesn't take a genius to see how much Cook is overthinking everything. The whole England management are overthinking everything...... For the last god knows how long, Englands tactic has been slow an steady. Bat and bowl with patience, play safe cricket, secure the draw before going for the win. AND IT WORKED. The reason England lost that ashes was because 3 of their best players lost form at the wrong time, not because australia played amazing attacking cricket.. So why the need to suddenly uproot an change everything?

England made reactive changes to their team.. They dropped Prior for a while, moved Root up to opener, dropped the coach, brought in every young talent they had in domestic... And what did that achieve? Stress Cook out to the point he's about to claim insanity?

Form is temporary, class is permanant. England needed to stick with their proven class players and work with them to help them regain the form which made England a genuine threat. Slowely ease in the young batsman into a winning enviroment.

Panicking and running around screaming wildly probably wasn't the best way to go about it...

Look at SA, they had a similar problem when Kallis just left. A few key players lost form and they lost a very important series. But they DIDNT panic, they backed the players they had chosen and they have (hopefully) found that form again.

Being a kiwi I base a lot of my thinking on the All Blacks (because obviously they are the pinicle of epicness) If I were to mimic any sporting team to base a cricket team on it'd have to be them.

Let's face it, the All Blacks are the greatest team to ever live. If the All Blacks were a cricket team they'd be declaring at 500/5 with a first innings lead of 300 in nearly every match they play ;D

Seriously though... The Blackcaps are getting pretty good. You guys should wait and watch. These young blokes coming through are dang talented.

Latham, Rutherford, Williamson (sadly can't bowl now, though) Neesham, Anderson, Watling, Southee, Boult, Wagner, Matt Henry, Cachopa, Sodhi, Todd, Milne..
I actually think NZ are the only team where when you name your best 11 players you only have 1 or 2 of them above 25 years old.

Watch them move into the top 3 in the world in the next few years boys ;)

P.S. Steyn is an absolute machine. I always laugh when people try to talk him down.. "he's not that fast anymore. His bowling will look lifeless in Sri Lanka. He didn't even take a wicket, best in the world?"

I always absorb it in when he has a performance like that last test against SL. Ripens my berrys to see him running through a team. Sexy beast he is.

Totally agree with your comments on the England set up, not only did we have players who lost form, we also lost Swann and then assassinated Pieterson. Take the two best players out of Brazil and u get stuffed 7-1 to Germany.....

As far as Dale Steyn, the man is a god, by FAR the best bowler in the world. Why couldnt we get him to play for england, we have all the other South Africans !
