When I was in high school, there were quite a lot of girls named "Britney". There were lots of different spellings (Britney, Brittney, Brittany, and even one Britni), but the pronunciation was identical.

First names didn't quite have the same issue with boys, but there was one year in middle school where I knew of four different guys with the name "Andrew".

For last names... there are quite a lot of common ones in my area. My phone book probably has five or more pages just dedicated to Williams and Williamson.
