Having read the books I put off watching it until the end of season 5, while I did know what was coming I have to say it was a very well done show, and even the changes they made didn't bother me (I'm sure some purists were).
I'm looking forward to where they take the series I am slightly concerned about how much GRRM has divulged in regards to how the books continue but not to the point I won't be watching although I'll be watching once the season ends.
Somebody dismissed it as a soap opera, but the events he drew on for inspiration happened in the past. The most obvious being the war of the roses: Stark v Lannister = House of York (YAY) v House of Lancaster (boo) Decades of fighting between the two house for the English throne.
I haven't read the books yet, and now I wont until the end of the series, maybe it will go 8-10. But the stories in the books will have to be slightly different to the tv series or fans wouldn't bother watching it. The books have more detail as well. They can only fit so much into a tv series.
I'm a fan and I watched it
the thing with fans of books is that a lot don't like them being messed with but as I said the changes didn't bother me (well actually I wanted Jaime to practice with Ilyn, but that could be as at the time the actor was assumed to be suffering from terminal cancer) although the reason given such as not to confuse viewers is insulting in my opinion such as the way they changed the name of Asha Greyjoy to Yara Greyjoy so people wouldn't confuse her the wildling Osha. I mean really..

I'm sorry to hear of your plight AOROX. Maybe you should consider torrents. In little old New Zealand we get it the day after the US. I would have thought it was the same in Aussie.
Episode 2. Jon Snow is alive.
Thoughts, comments. And give me a 1-10 on what you thought of the first 2 episodes of season 6.
