I don't quite understand.

You went outside without a jacket and you promised your mom that you would do so.

You disregarded your promise which was to go outside without a jacket but you went outside without a jacket anyway.

How is that disregarding the promise if you followed through with the promise you made?

Am I missing something? Is it the word "defiance", because I don't really know it's definition very clearly.
