How many months since you last shaved?
I stopped trimming it at 1" 2 months ago, because I had to wait for my mustache to catch up. It's ~3-4" atm.
I'm finally going for something that I've wanted for a long time, and that is a very long goatee/mustache... maybe over a foot. The easiest way to do it is just not trimming it at all and letting it do it's thing. It's a long road ahead, but I truly believe I'm finally ready to attempt it.

Ah nice. Got any goal for how long you're going to save it?
I'm 10 months in, but I haven't trimmed or cut anything during that time.

Well my mustache is 8 months in, it grows pathetically slow and a large portion of it is blonde which is what turned me off so much trying to go the distance (don't confuse density with color). I have the same problem with my eyebrows, they will get darker this winter when I'm not in the sun as much though... no they aren't shaved, just super light
. Somewhere around the 6 month mark is when it finally started to get decently acceptable darkness wise and that's when I stopped trimming the beard.
I generally change styles often, but committing probably 2 years to a single style I don't see myself removing it shortly after.
And yeah, I saw that pic you posted, how old are you? Should definitely trim the sideburns down just a little so it doesn't stick out as much (watch a guide on how to do it properly though), apart from that it's pretty decent.

Yeah that is annoying as hell. I have the same problem with really blonde mustache then darker in the middle. I know I have to trim eventually, but my mindset from start was not to cut anything for at least a year.
I am nineteen. How old are you?

Even if you only trim the very top of the sideburns it will make a drastic difference for the overall look. The way I like to do it is start with whatever length your hair is, if it's bald like yours just go with the lowest clipper shield which is usually 3mm and just do a tiny horizontal strip, then I go up 1-2 shields and do the same thing twice more for a total of 3 different settings. Even if you only do like an inch total down the sideburn like that you'll see a huge difference. I can't really consider it part of the trimming process since sideburns aren't usually considered part of a beard, more-so just not looking like a bum. XD
I'm nearing 26 btw, next month. Mine really isn't going to get much better in time, maybe it will but I'm not planning on it. It grows dense, but it's just the color that kills it; if I dye it the same color as the rest (which I do on occasion, not often though) it looks good. Since you're only 19, you still have a chance; it's not uncommon for people to mature their beard in their mid 20s or even early 30s. Mine has matured, it's just two-toned like a motherfucker..
