So Jagex made Gross Profits of £24M in 2012 and only £12M in 2013.. there is something going on seriously wrong. How did they lose 50% of profits?

EDIT: And their win went from £7 Million in a year (2012) to £381 in the next year (2013) ? I don't know about RS' future.

Nothing is "wrong" if you consider them expanding into Transformers Universe and the new Card game coming up, you know. Look at the revenue, they basically didn't lose money. They upped the cost of their projects.

^Turnover is basically the gross revenue for the whole of Jagex. Not just Runescape - however, in practice the vast bulk will come from Runescape.

There is no breakdown for special costs associated with Transformers Universe. However, 2012 also included costs for TU and y/e March 2011 would include Mechscape, Stellar dawn, 8realms and even Funorb related costs.

Jagex have always tried to push a fair amount of cash into other projects. For whatever reason none of them have been successful.

I am new to finance, but L0L this statement humors me. You do not judge a company's future solely off profit.

I guess the CGS is high because of all those failed projects.Turnover rate is also high - but i don't know what led to that. Profit is low.... but once again you can't judge unless you compare it to previous years. Companies like to spread losses depending on tax benefits....

also gotta realize maybe they invested into something special in 2k13 that will realize profits 2-3 years ahead of time, which is why they look like they'e performing worse than they actually are.

unless you're actually able to look at the breakdown of financial statements, and they give multiple year numbers, then it's almost impossible to know for sure what is actually happening.

I believe this low profit rate was due to Jagex opening an office in California. Might have been something else, but I remember that a much lower profit rate for that year was expected and that is was nothing to worry about.
