Tbh I could never give up beer or cider, they are just too important in my life

Even when I go out and smoke I bring my drink with me, it's just too important. I wouldnt let that put you off of alcohol though, there is much more variety than just spirits and anyway, you dont have to only drink when you want to get drunk.

Maybe its a difference in culture, idk how alcohol is treated in Canada but here in the UK its very common to have a pint of beer with a meal or just as a refreshment, not with the intention of getting really drunk but just because it tastes nice

Yesss. So much this. The amount of times my friends are like "Wtf why are you drinking X it's only 5pm?" - My response is kinda just like "What? Am I the only one that drinks cause it's nice to have with a meal?" - I don't really get it, but I have only ever set out to be drunk a few times in my life. Had loads of milk spare so filled glass to below a pint and added a very generous amount of brandy. Better if you've some chocolate to go with it, but delicious and slaking regardless.
