From what I've seen rainmeter is pretty much just a variation of gadgets that were on windows vista/7, just with a little more customization. I never really found the use in them and I assume some of the cooler rainmeter themes take up a decent amount of cpu usage so isn't practical for general computer use.
I mainly just want a default clock on my 2nd monitor so that the taskbars match, I don't really understand why windows gives the option to have the taskbar on another monitor but doesn't put the clock/date/notifications/toolbars there as well since it's part of the taskbar. Most of the hardware/system tools I have at a click of a button on different toolbars.
