Townsend joined Newcastle last season if I recall correctly? Think Palace activated his release clause though and Newcastle were relegated D:

And I'd personally be fine with Martial/Rashford and save money rather than going for Zlatan to be fair. But if the younger players like Rashford, Lingard, Memphis etc can learn something from playing with Zlatan it'd be okay I guess.

Hoping Schneiderlin will be given more playing time under Mourinho compared to van Gaal...

Yeah, I mean, even with Rashford there instead of Zlatan, that's still pretty potent!

For sure about Schneiderlin, there's this crazy stat from last season like, our win record when he starts was like 80%, and when he didn't, it was about 50%. He has the potential to be pretty immense, showed it at Southampton, and glimpses at United.

Townsend is a shrewd bit of business, but don't they already have Zaha/Bolasie? Could one be on his way?

Yeah, I don't think Fergie was a fan at the time - how can you not be now, though?!

He said recently he still has a lot of friends etc in Manchester as it's essentially where he grew up, but he's said before he'd like to work under Guardiola, so tbh City is the more likely destination for him.

Yeah Pep got rid of Yaya at Barca so I can definitely see him doing the same at City.

They've got De Bruyne who I'd prefer in the centre, then you can get Sterling/ Silva/ Navas/ Nasri on the wings, you could even play Nasri central.

I guess more strength in depth isn't a bad thing for them, just wonder where that will leave the likes of Delph.

Silva/de Bruyne both play centrally, preferably; both are wasted out wide. Each are great backup if the other is out/rested, but will either want to play second fiddle? Doubtful.

Sterling/Navas would probably be your wide men, though I REALLY don't rate either, especially Navas. As in, Navas should literally be playing for West Brom or someone.

You don't really want Nasri in CM/CDM, of which there will be at least 2 under Pep, so alongside Gundogan would likely be Fernandinho, but idk if he's really good enough.

Defence is City's real issue. Meh full backs, and serious central defensive frailties - and Guardiola isn't exactly known for his team's defensive prowess. Even having Boateng/Dante at the back, they had the tendency to concede a lot of goals against good teams.

It'll be interesting.
