Was listening to some sports people talk about this on ESPN and stuff, and one of them is a youth coach, and he basically said the ball barely gets played in the air at those ages anyway. Also a side benefit SHOULD be players being better with the ball at their feet. If its one thing the Americans are/were useless at maintaining possession in the opponents side of the field.
