I don't believe I am knowledgeable enough to truly say which issues are the top three greatest problems in the whole world , but here are three that both fascinate and worry me:

Growing antibiotic resistance - why hasn't it been solved?

Because for some odd reason livestock tends to grow 10%+ bigger when fed antibiotics. = Profit.

In the past, antibiotics such as penicillin were heavily overused and used proactively, before we realised that this was a harmful practice. This has created a hole that is harder for us to dig ourselves out of since so many antibiotics are now nearly useless.

Limited awareness. This issue is only just now coming to light, and even now if you speak to a random person off the street they will likely know nothing about it. Heck, many, many people think that antibiotics can be used to treat viral infections (like the flu) . There just isn't much knowledge about this topic.

Lack of regulations. Currently antibiotic products are found nearly everywhere, necessary or not. Many things are sprayed with an antibiotic coating after manufacturing.

What a terrifying thing, though. Imagine getting an infection only to learn that there is literally nothing that can be done for you, and not only that, but imagine that this could have been preventable, if only antibiotics had been used more carefully in the past.

Cyber security , especially in regards to countries nuclear arsenals (especially the US, that is in the process of upgrading nuclear systems to bring them in line with the digital age) ,I actually just read an article on this today. All digital things can be hacked, and this could have catastrophic consequences.

Genetic Engineering - While I find it extremely interesting, if not regulated correctly technology such as CRISPR-Cas9 (genome editing) could end up being used maliciously, and changes, good or bad, could be passed down in generations.

I've gone and ran out of space for reasons.
RSC - Gone, but never forgotten.
