Sounds really silly, but when I have a head cold, I find sitting in the car with the heating on works for me.

A shower could also be good, if you have one. The steam can work wonders, well, it does for me at least. Just don't stay in there too long, or you'll end up looking like a lobster.

I mentioned a Hot Toddy, as well, it is something that works for me, and I don't really like popping pills. If you are going to drink alcohol - don't go overboard, just have one before bed. Remember you need to drink plenty of water when you're ill, and if you can stomach it, I like to eat some fruit as well.
