Normal mode = cannot interact with anyone in any way for the exception of Shield of Arrav/ Bonds for membership/ possibly Hero's Quest.

Hardcore mode = If you die your account is 'deleted' but your highscores remains + you can still chat in the lobby. You can buy two extra 'lives' on this but I've been told it reverts your Hardcore account into a normal one? I'm not 100% sure on that part but yeah, it's basically like solo RuneScape

People do it for the change/challenge I suppose
