I've made threads through-out the years in this section of random places in our project (last christmas was winter varrock, last last halloween was barrows tombs), so I've decided to make a perm-thread, where I'll post pictures and more.

I would like to also note that this isn't a form of advertisement. We aren't looking for more "fans/followers", to be honest we don't care about all that :p I'm posting for anyone who finds it interesting.


So the first and most important question, what is our project?

Titled "Molior RS", we're a server hosted on the D&D game; Neverwinter Nights 2.

We use an in-game engine which is used to create Campaigns or PW's (Persistent worlds). We chose to re-create Runescape.

Our goal is to re-create the entirety of Runescape, but with a twist. With 6 years of work in progress, while we re-create Runescape, we've set our time frame in the 5th Age Year 20, which is roughly 140 years before RS2. This allows us to give a new adventure to players, such as exploring Crandor as a city, and other iconic areas which weren't in RS2.

The landscape is cut up into box areas (due to restrictions to the game), resulting in a loading screen between areas (which is around 5 seconds). An area is the same size as the far left to right of Ardougne in Runescape (Excluding West Ardougne).

Trollheim isn't 1:1 scale, as it was very, very hard to scale each tile and replicate it into the engine, as majority of the landscape is non-walkable.

Apart from landscape;

Our server consists of every F2P monster, and 80% of quests (which are currently being re-done).

Although our goal is to re-create Runescape, we want a community which enjoys both RS and a more relaxed, roleplaying environment. Our combat, sounds, visuals are near-enough to Runescapes, enhancing the environment to a more nostalgia feel. Currently, you could a good number of hours in-game, as we have a 100% replicated skilling system, a good number of challenges from goblins to greater lesser demons, quests and exploring additional content.

Issues with JaGex?

We've been making contact with JaGex since 2013, a mix signals, but majority of it positive. No real negativity. They seem to be impressed with our project, and see it as a non-threat, as we aren't looking to profit at all. Any funds we receive, and have received all go towards server performance (Which is currently stable for 30~ players), and uptime (Currently 24/7).

With a few Jmods calling a cool project, we've been waiting to receive information from the Legal team since early 2015. No news is good news, right :P ?

While not really satisfied with Runescapes Lumbridge swamp, I re-located it further down the map. A swamp just south of Lumbridge wasn't the best environment, and it felt too much packed into a small space (Forest, swamps, deserts) all in a small amount of space.

South of Lumbridge is now a forest, with additional mobs to kill, mines to train mining/smithing and more.

The swamp, is now more of a swamp, much further down, just below the new forest.

With the landscape pushed down, this only affects closer areas, so far to the west (Ardougne), the landscape isn't pushed further down.

With the desert originally south of the swamp, we've extended the Shantay Pass, to make it feel more of a pass.

Here will be new threats, such as bandits, scorpions and kalphite workers (surrounding it's lair). Landscape wise, it'll be a small passage way through valleys, which will lead to Kharidian desert.
