Since the death of in-print newspapers, online news articles need to rely on heaps of ad revenue from click-bait:
"gorallion children die in bomb blast" gets more clicks then "21 children die per minute from preventable causes says UNICEF"
Death doesn't make the news usually unless its terrorist bombings in non-ME countries, anything where kids die, etc. Then of course we have "concerned" social media users reposting random news on facebook like "AMAZING SAD VIDEO OF IRAQI GIRL IN HOSPITAL" or something. It's all fucked up but not much we can do.
