Is there a way to decrease the time it takes for the A log page to load upon clicking forum avatars? I don't know if it only happens with me, but it takes perhaps x3 to load the a log with the extension than without. Is there a way to improve this?
I just uploaded another update which might boost the performance slightly, but I'm afraid there isn't much more I can do about the load speed. I timed how long it takes for my extension to do it's work from start to finish (excluding images' load time) and it seems to take from 200 to up to 1000
milliseconds
(sub 1 sec most of the time). For some reason Chrome takes quite some time to render the background image sometimes (which is a bit strange because it isn't a huge image and it's stored locally), which might be why it feels like it loads slowly. Other than that I'm just gonna blame Jagex's servers.
This version prints the extension's run time to the Javascript Console, if you'd like to check how long it actually takes on your computer (and post it here would be appreciated).
Open Javascript Console:
Windows: Ctrl + shift + J
Mac: cmd + alt + J
or View -> Developer -> Javascript Console
Open that and then go to alog as usual. At the top of the log it will print a line that says something like
640ms
(and possibly some other stuff which you can ignore)
e:
^ That time is excluding clan/title/status lookup, but that shouldn't slow down the page.
