General thoughts loosely related to the first 10 pages of this thread:
Mariners - Above average team, probably win in the ballpark of 85~ games, but they're currently overperforming in the pitching department (with the exception of Felix, because he's Felix)...also they're probably benefitting from playing mostly teams under .500 (only exception being the Rangers, I think?). I think their upcoming series @Baltimore will be very telling. Additionally, their month before the all star break is absolutely brutal, if they're still in contention after that I'll become a believer. That being said, I'll be horribly surprised if they make it past the ALDS, at best they hold on to win a weak AL West, or sneak in as a wild card.
Since I brought it up...
AL West - Who else could claim this division? Maybe the Rangers? but their bullpen is absolutely awful.
Blue Jays - Definitely can see them finishing with a better record than the 81-81 they're on track for...it's only a matter of time before that lineup heats up. That being said, I'll be surprised if they score anywhere close to as many runs as last year. Can't see them winning the AL East again (although I must admit I'm biased, as a Red Sox fan).
Royals - What is going on here?????? I keep waiting for them to wake up and rip off a hot streak but it just isn't coming
Bryce Harper - Best player in baseball, you're crazy for wanting to take anyone over him (aside from maybe Jake Arrieta for a year or two), longterm he's the top choice moving forward...although I do find his outbursts of rage a bit offputting, he's still a hell of a player
Cubs - This team is really fun to watch, would love to see them finally break the curse (assuming the Sox are out of it by late October)...can anyone realistically stop their monster lineup + pitching staff, outside of divine intervention?
All of that being said, it's always a good day in baseball when the Yankees are in last place!
Sorry for the book, I like baseball.
