I'm currently running windows 7 Vista and I keep getting the prompt to update my os from 7 to 10. Runescape runs really laggy for me and i've done all the possible clean ups as far as scans go, disk clean up/defrag, cleared cache.. I don't even keep music/pictures on the laptop I use to play rs on. I've also allocated a good sum of my ram to Java on this laptop in hopes it would make rs run smoother. I haven't really noticed any changes and I have high speed internet. My laptop sits very close to the router too. My question is would switching to 10 from windows 7 make a difference? I don't really have any interest in upgrading because I love windows 7, but if it helps with the lag issue I would be open to upgrading. Any ideas?

Not a single problem with Win 10, performance of my system went up aswell.

For now you are fine staying at Win 7, until content gets released that requires DX12( but remember if you do not upgrade before July you will have to pay if you still want to upgrade)

that's still 6 months of patches for them to throw out before anything happens.

Also I guess I've gotten used to w8 on my work comp so w10 should be better.

WHAAAT? Is it 7 or Vista?

Anyway Windows 10 is only good for directx 12, if you can live without it you can wait for windows 10 to be improved.

If you're on Windows 8 you should upgrade because Windows 10 is less terrible than W8.

It kills me how so many people hate windows 8. The only problem with 8 is that it was focused towards touch screens, and every single one of those things can be easily disabled to make it look and feel identical to any other previous OS (quite literally..). Windows 8 is twice as fast as 7 ever was, and it uses way less memory.

I do agree to not upgrade to 10, though. Not very much stuff is compatible with it quite yet and the amount of bugs in it are asinine. It's never a good idea to upgrade right after a new OS is released, as in 6+ months after official releases, you want the guinea pigs to use it first.
