Internet dead - Rs still works

So hey people,

this is probably the weirdest thing you will ever read about the internet.

So it has been happening for several months now to me - btw, i use an antivirus programme.

So at times, my internet "dies" but the five stripes indicinating my internet speed still show up as normal.

But: I can't access any internet page, not even forums, nothing. Most of the time, skype still works then, but sometimes like it just happened now, it also dies. But: RuneScape always continues to work! No dc, nothing. Today, i realised that my internet "died" was because it tried to access the citadel and it kept throwing me back to the world from where i tried. I can also freely hop between worlds (just not access cit when internet "died" ) Also, if that helps: TS also always "dies" when my internet does.

Oh and by the way, if i completely log out rs (not just lobby) i can not log back, so i need to re-start the internet and again and always re-start the client cause it shows this weird "session over" message.

How i solve that problem: Always disconnect my internet and re-connect again and everything works again.

Can someone still explain me this phenomenom? I seem to be the only one, i tried to use the internet (when it works haha) and found nothing similar.

I can only think of two reasons, one is that your internet isn't actually disconnected, its just extremely slow during those periods, and RS just so happens to not be affected and continues to run. Another would be your anti-virus might be blocking something and that might be affecting your browser, though why that would make RS unable to be connected to if you log-out/lobby i have no clue unless its something RS related as well, but once again not 100% sure. Most likely the first reason i said.

Tommylenin, same hapens for me too if i open more than 7 rs clients. After that i cant get acess on internet, but i can still log on my alts.

Well i think it would be hard to run an online game if your net really did "die".prob just really really slow at that moment.Like what was said cause would be kind of impossible to be online if there is no net connection.

Would be like trying to turn your computer on when you get a power outage...Anything that would require electricity to run wont work anymore.

Though is kind of weird when most things online stop working even if some still do...Used to happen like with steam some days i found...where cant even open any browsers or anything but could still be online with steam chat or skype sometimes back when actully used it..

You can't always gauge your connection by the display. There are times where my router believes I am connected but all pages time out or never load. I go to my settings and it's like: "Internet: good". It's weird sometimes.

I think its when these things randomly go down, your end result is your internet not working, but anything you've already connected to stays connected.
